Star Wars trading cards have existed in one form or another for almost as long as the movies themselves. After decades, it can be hard for there to be anything new to get excited about. However, Jedi Legacy answers back with not one but TWO RELIC CARDS and FILM CELL CARDS for the first time ever in the history of the franchise.
2013 Topps Star Wars Jedi Legacy is a 90-card set that has been divided into two distinct sections. Anakin and Darth Vader get 45 “A” cards while Luke Skywalker has 45 “B” cards. The idea is that their stories are separate but, ultimately, connected. Parallels combine to fall at least one per pack. Blue Light Saber cards are the most common, falling one per pack. Other Light Saber-themed parallels include Magenta (1:6 packs), Green (1:24 packs) and Gold (10 per card). Printing Plates are considered a box hit, falling 1:30 boxes.
The set has three different relics. Ewok fur is the most common, falling 1:5 boxes. There is also Jabba’s Sail Barge (1:14 boxes) and Chewbacca’s hair (1:30 boxes). The Ewok card has swatches from Wicket, Logray, Teebo and others. The Chewbacca hair is from the original trilogy.
Film Cel cards have a big checklist and tiered structure to encourage set collecting. Thirty Single Film Cel cards are one per box and have original frames from Episode IV, V and VI. Five Double Film Cel cards and ten Triple Film Cel cards each fall 1:6 boxes. These focus on frames that have Luke or Darth Vader.
2013 Topps Star Wars Jedi Legacy has 20 different autographs from actors in all six films. One autograph is in every third box. Confirmed signers include Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) and Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia).
Basic inserts fall one per pack in 2013 Topps Star Wars Jedi Legacy. The Circle is Now Complete (1:12 packs) is a 12-card set that focuses on encounters between Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader. When the entire set is put together, it forms a circle. Those that finish the set may qualify for prizes like posters and Film Cels. Influencers (9 cards, 1:2 packs) looks at the characters who had a lasting impact on Anakin, Darth Vader or Luke Skywalker. Connections (15 cards, 1:2 packs) focuses on those who were involved in both Luke’s and Vader’s lives.
